LEPTOSPIROSIS
PREVENTION TIPS

Leptospirosis is a serious bacterial disease transmitted through infected URINE of rodents (rats and mice), dogs, cats and agouti. The bacteria can enter the body through broken skin and cuts in the nose, mouth and eyes.
Keep Rodents away and prevent the spread of Leptospirosis:
.Avoid Contact with surfaces and water which may be contaminated by urine of rodents and other animals
.Clean infected areas and floors with disinfectants
.Keep your home and its surrounding clean. Remove tall grass and shrubs that attracts rats
.Avoid leaving food exposed to rats and mice
.Store animal feeds in rat-proof containers
.Do not allow children to play with infected animals and in contaminated water sources such as puddles
.Avoid leaving food where rats or rodents could get to it

HOW TO CONTROL RODENTS
STEP 1: LOOK FOR EVIDENCE
Droppings
Holes and gnawing on wood and plastic garbage cans
Check walls and grass for signs of rodent footprints
STEP 2: CLEAN UP
Keep your surroundings clean
Ensure all litter, waste foods and rubbish are disposed of immediately. These
provide shelter and food for rodents
STEP 3: STARVE THEM
Rodents only need one ounce of food each day. Don’t make your garbage their food.
STEP 4: SHUT THEM OUT
Seal all holes and cracks in foundations walls floors underneath doors and around windows
STEP 5: WIPE THEM OUT
Trapping rodents is a perfectly acceptable method of control.
